Less Options Give us a Better Creative Process | 4 Questions to Ask Yourself

Here is my thought: We are hindering ourselves from actually exploring our creative limits when we try to acquire new tools and expand parameters "On-Demand;" instead we should set limits for ourselves with the tools and parameters we have at hand.

We often think we are more creative than we really are; this was the realization I came to not long ago. What is hindering you or me from exploring our creativity? Maybe it is that we allow ourselves too much freedom during our execution process.

I think we sometimes just have too many options, too many opinions, and too many tools. For me, I have found this stopping me from actually doing something, as with more tools, there are always more points of failure.

Here is my thought: We are hindering ourselves from actually exploring our creative limits when we try to acquire new tools and expand parameters "On-Demand." Instead, we should set limits for ourselves with the tools and parameters we have at hand. If you do not push those limits but keep moving them arbitrarily, you are cheating the system.

Here are four questions to ask yourself: 👇

1) What can you accomplish with less?

2) What is the minimum necessary to get you started?

3) How can you reduce the number of decisions you need to make, so you can actually decide to move forward?

And finally...

4) Can you think harder about the solution, make a bet, and win on the merits of strategy and efficiency rather than a surplus of resources? Both will get you to the same point, but one is a longer process that trains you to be better.

So what do you want, fast success or longevity?

Until the next one,

Javier
